I had this vintage Craftsman side box up in the attic. I figured it was either time to use it or sell it. It just happened to fit, exactly. It took a little shoe-horning but it works.

I had a HF magnetic tray there with markers and pencils and such. I like this organization better.

I'm impressed that somebody took the time to shape a horn on it. Mine are still 100% railroad track shaped.

I don't speak for the legality... but you can find 10-20' rails kicked off the side of RR tracks all around. I may or may have not picked up a few over the years.

Google overlords are telling me rail weighs 43.33lbs per foot.

Rail weight is measured by the yard, common weights/sizes are 133, 136 and 141. Those are good sizes for an anvil. Smaller sized rail wouldn't be as heavy of course.

I was told by the guy that gave me my section that it was illegal to sell or scrap rail, is that true @Greg ?

Yep, there's a law against selling rail for scrap that has to do with rail being part of critical infrastructure. If you haul steel rail material to a scrap yard, they're supposed call the police.
