I installed one of these last week in my daughters 1967 Jeepster Commando. The rig was set up years ago with dual transfer cases and we never did get the old mechanical speedo working. She used an HUD gps for a few years.

The supplied gps antenna simply magnets to the dash. It’s tiny. There are 3 wires to hook it up 1. A 12v ignition on, 2. A ground, 3. Power from headlight switch.

When you first turn the car on the readout says “Acquiring Satellite “ for about 60 seconds. Then you get a choice of what to display in that area. Odometer, time, speed, top speed, hours, etc.

We took it out for a long day of testing yesterday. (Lots of recent upgrades to the whole truck) We went up over Alpine Loop into Cascade Springs and then took the road over to Tibble and ended up going all the way up to the top of 007 trail and the back of Snowbird, then home via AF canyon.

The speedo was rock solid the entire trip. Never had any issues with losing satellites or anything else. Lots of the trip was at 3-4 mph and less.

To wrap it up I would recommend at this point. It will be nice to never worry about accuracy with tire size changes or gearing changes.

That speedo was designed by a guy on my team at work. We've had lengthy discussions about it.

After building the gas tank skid for the scrambler, the sending unit stopped reading above 1/4 tank. I think it is likely stuck on the new return line that I added for the Holley Sniper EFI (there is an in-tank tube to direct the gas to the bottom of the tank); it sits in close proximity to the sending unit.

I've grown tired of dropping the tank, especially with more than a half tank of fuel. So I am in the process of adding this access panel. Works/sits very nicely in the tub. Although I found the sending unit o-ring is not sealing well (part of it is sticking out), so I guess I got lucky there was no fire when I cut the floor with an angle grinder, sending sparks everywhere. There are a few fuel vapors.

Smart man. 🤘 Before selling my ‘02 Chev dually, I was planning on doing the same thing if the pump gave me any trouble. Beats dropping a 32 gallon tank. 😳

Oh man. I had to drop the tank on my old long bed ferd to do a fuel pump once.... It would take 36.8 gallons on a fill-up- pretty sure it held closer to 40. Death....

Just wish the power wagon version came up for sale a day earlier and that I had called dibs first. Ohh well I’ll give my budget off brand a try when it arrives

I had a p300 on my AK van earlier this year that ended up being a bad Cat. Apparently it’s common on Chevy vehicles that idle for long periods of time like older service vehicles that may have been left idling for hours at a time.

My brother is the one that stopped and talked to them but as he explained to me, it's $100 hour, they don't even want us grinding down any of the welds we have made, they have tooling and such to reshape bumpers of all eras so they can straighten any dents, dings etc. Their time, hours spent, material. I don't think there are a lot of chromers anymore, I've always heard they where expensive but their quality is top notch, never seen the show but I know Kindig gets all his stuff chromed there? Maybe that factors in now too?

Only other option I might have (don't want to paint them) is possible powder coat that looks chrome?

^^^Have you checked Cache Valley Plating next to Novak in Logan, and Pioneer Metal Finishing? I know 10 years ago both of them did chrome plating when Pioneer was Pilkington Metal Finishing.

I have not but it certainly don't hurt to look into that. I've thought about it a lot and I'm certain these bumpers need to be chromed, it won't look right if I don't, if they come out looking like they came from Henry Ford that way even better.

Conversation you missed today, I guess there is also a spray on chrome you can get, Jeff Lutz uses it on that 57 drag car over the fiberglass, even the cost of that gets way up there near re-chroming cost, my brother makes a good point in me just going with Ogden chrome because of their skills, quality, If I don't like the results let them know and make them fix it, costly yes but it'll be right.

We got the bumpers a little better aligned, they will both get a slight shave across the top to get an even 1/2" gaping from the fenders, I'll spend some time grinding and smoothing the backside which will not be chromed but painted. So far I'm happy with the look, not going to win any ridler award but not bad for a family build.
