    Which rear axle now?

D60 or 14-bolt. I went with a semi float D60 with 35 spline chromos. With conversion to semi float custom shafts gears disk brakes and locker I was less than $2000. Tough simple setup.

    Rock Flats wheelin

Just a local area here in Colorado. I live in the middle of nowhere so I wouldn't expect you to know. We have a ton of places in the area. This one is kinda land locked. Unless you cross private you are going to have an extreme time getting there.:greg:

    Rock Flats wheelin

Finally got a chance this year to get out with some friends and test the truck with all its new parts. I definitly love the new crawlbox. I don't know how I ever wheeled without it. We had an Awesome time without a whole lot of carnage. All within sight of home too.

    D44 ChroMo question

I ran ran the Yukon super joints with the yukon shafts and was really impressed with them when I had my D44. I managed to bust a shaft into peices after a bad hop on Guardrail in Tellico. I called in ordered 4 new caps and threw the u-joint right back in. The cross was completely unharmed. They...

    Vibration @ speed.

The alignment of the u-joints. Sometimes you can pull the driveshaft apart and advance it a tooth or two and put it back in. You want the joint at the axle to lead in rotation if you advance it. This can help but it may also just move the vibration to a different speed. If you have the slip yoke...

    Tundra SAS

I have wheeled with Jonathon and pics just don't do it justice. He has a real clean rig. I am building an 02 Tacoma with his old axles he ran on the ultimate adventure.

    14 bolt disc brake swap

I got over to the shop this morning so I checked for you. The rotors I mentioned have about a 7 3/8" internal clearance. so they should work for you.

    14 bolt disc brake swap

That is for a 6 lug semi float application hence the 1/2 ton. The ext cab just offers a heavy duty version. (Not sure if there is really a difference I have just always asked for the heavy duty). My rear axle is a 6 lug semi float D60 with this same brake rotor. Not quite sure of all the years...

    Dana 60 vs 14 bolt

I think both are great axles and can both be made to work really well. To me I guess it comes down to availability. I put together a 35 spline semi-float D60 with disks and locker for right around $1500 and love it. Simple and light weight as far as D60s go.

    14 bolt disc brake swap

What rotors are you using? I usually use a front rotor off a 88 chevy 4x4 1/2 ton ext cab with heavy duty brakes. It is a slip on style brake rotor. I am not sure of the inside diameter. You might run down to Napa and check them out. I won't be around my truck for a while so I can't tell you...

    Where can I get

Not a Warn but I got a comp T-Max 9000# with synthetic line shipped for $800 from one of the Pirate4x4 vendors. Box says 6500#, you can see it is a 9000# by the sticker on the winch

overriding rear diff locker on 2000 tacoma

simple 5 minute mod. Just don't cut the grey wire too short to not be able to ground it. (I am assuming you read the link so you know what I am talking about.)

    detroit or spool

If I were to do it all over again I would of put a spool in my rear axle over the lock rite I have now. I don't think I would spool or weld the front though. Unless you want to unlock a hub all the time to steer. The clanging and banging gets to be a real pain from a ratcheting locker. Not to...

    Best GPS for backcountry/4x4 use?

When I first moved back to CO I was doing a lot with staking of mining claims and I ended up buying a GPSmap 60Csx. May not be quite what you are looking for. It has a slot for SD cards. I have the Topo program in it and have been out in the mountains in the middle of nowhere and it is just...
