    Tube bender Dies

Agreed. I use the 1.75" and 1.5" the most, but use the 1.25" for cage grab handles and such.

    broken axle extraction ideas

Since you have access to a stick welder it's easy - really. I didn't believe this would work until I did it. Doesn't matter what rod you use, but use a larger diameter vs smaller rod. Turn heat down. Stick 2 or 3 rods together end-to-end by welding them. Once you have a long enough piece, cover...

    hydro steering

Wow. So, there's no law on the books against it, but each individual LEO is allowed to simply look at something and tell you if it's legal or not - regardless of any law against it? That's simply amazing. How did such a system come to exist in UT? There are a number of heavy trucks with no...

    Moab heads up

Thanks Kurt, a voice of reason response. :D I know Scott (who owns Rockstomper) has had a standing offer on PBB for several years to pay anyone several hundred $ for showing him a law making beadlocks illegal in any of the 50 states. Nobody has claimed that yet either. And yeah...

    Moab heads up

Ah, so it's an interpretation, not a specific law, thanks. I'm surprised someone hasn't challenged it in court, especially since it doesn't even make provision for "DOT approved" beadlocks being legal. What state law do they cite when they ticket you for them? It would make a great test case...

    Moab heads up

DOT approval is NOT a law under which you can be ticketed or fined; it's a standard that manufacturers can choose (or not) to certify their wheels (and lots of other parts) to. Show me the UT law (or any other state for that matter) saying that your wheels must be DOT approved. I'm betting there...

    Moab heads up

I'm not volunteering as it would still cost me much more to make it go away than to simply pay it, which is really the big problem. :p And I agree with that 100%. IMO they should, however, be actively looking for and enforcing DWI laws, speeding, careless/reckless driving, and having...

    Moab heads up

You're talking apples and oranges here. Speeding, DWI, not signalling, rape, murder, littering, etc., etc., etc. are actions. Actions are clearly illegal and are subject to anyone in that jurisdiction; those apply to people. Mudflaps, lift laws, bumper height, type of insurance, tires outside of...

    Moab heads up

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Since I live relatively close, and have the resources to hire a good lawyer, I really hope I get a UT ticket for my Colorado-licensed and Colorado-legal vehicle while in Moab. I will have a fun time making them look like idiots as I WILL show up in court loaded for bear.

Agreed. It looks okay to me Greg.

    21 Road & Billings Canyon; Colorado Nov. 24th & 25th

Cool pics everyone. Glad you like our local trails. :D What's really amazing is if you live here you can go do those almost year round, and almost never run into another group on the trail. We run both of those a couple of dozen times every year. If you're ever out here and want...

    Billings canyon

Dunno Greg. Eric (owns the CO4x4 board,) Wally, Clint, Mike and I are staying at the Days Inn. We'll probably run Pritchett one day, but don't have firm plans either Sat or Sun. If I'm in town I'll run em with you guys. I don't check this board that often, so email me at sdrima@mactec.com when...

    Billings canyon

Greg is correct. I've made a couple of maps that I can email, but even with those, it's very difficult to find the trailhead - which is a good thing. Greg, when are we gonna run it together? I've run Billings probably a couple dozen times since it opened, but then it's about 10 minutes from...

    21 in July?

I agree with Greg. Living here in 'Junction for several years, I can tell you that we don't do 21 Rd much in July/August, and no way would I do Billings Canyon then. In addition to the hot temps, the sand gnats (aka Flying Teeth) are bad that time of year as well. September or later is perfect.

automatic to dual cases crawl ratio concerns?

I've gained a new perspective on this issue since I swapped out the NP435 and D20 for a C4 and Atlas last winter. While auto is THE way to go in rocks, you can have too much crawl ratio, and yes, you can drive through your brakes, which is not cool at all. My calculated crawl ratio is about...

    21 Road, in the 4Runner!

Cool Greg, good to see you got it out wheeling. :D Any noise from the gears? Kurt, 21 Rd is a cool trail because for the most part it's as easy or as hard as you want to make it. I've seen rigs on 32" tires and open diffs make it most of the way up, but if you're into insanely difficult...

Hey is there anyone out there that wheels in Grand Junction

Hey robfisher, join CO4X4.org and watch the staging area there. There are several of us here in 'Junction who wheel 21 Rd and Billings a lot, and we post up over there about the trips.
