I'm with Bear, leave the stock class alone. If you can't get into the stock class based on tire size alone, just swap tires with someone like has been done in the past.

I don't really care about changes in the legends class, but bear in mind some of these guys run in other races where they're limited in size so they'll be at a disadvantage running against the larger tired rigs.

It would be great to have enough folks competing to have a promod class.

I feel like the legend class has gotten out of hand with what counts for "frame" and "% of body panels."

If it has a front clip only or it's a tube chassis with frame rails and skins, I feel like it should go into the promod class.

That being said: I'd rather compete against rigs that out class the rest of the Legends like we have been than not compete. Competing is the fun part.

Craig, Kevin, their families and all of the folks that make the OSRC happened put forth lots of time and effort and I appreciate what they do.

I think we should make a huge push and get enough folks out this year to really make it fun! :D

after long consideration, i have decided that i was right, and me competing in legends class would be a joke.

100% of my frame, suspension (leaf springs), axles (minus gears) and drivetrain came as OEM equipment on a street truck.
and i am running 100% body, inner fenders, tub, and all from a different street vehicle, but 100% OEM nonetheless

neither i feel gives me an advantage over any other street-stock vehicles

my street treads are 35", but my muds (which i would use) are 33"

so basically i would:
A) suffer a huge hit for penalties for every inch under 40" my tires are (7" would rack up a decent penalty according to the rules)
and
B) be on courses well above my limited skills, and limited vehicle capability

thanks anyway

Actually you would start out with far less points and put you at an advantage as far as points go for tire size.

i mis-read it, i thought it said points deducted for every inch under 40"

but 35" is the minimum, so i would need to run my street-tread all-terrains.....not real hip on doing that either

B2, if you want to stop by again I'll take a close look at the truck. I think you can fit in the stock class, you will get a 10 point penalty for swapping the TTB axle though. Anything I top of that, I didn't really notice when you were here. Also, there is no minimum tire size, just maximum. The course is concrete, so all-terrain tires do well.

the only real concern i had is that my frame is not OEM to the body, it is OEM just not to the body

I had this same issue with my flatty. It is running all toyota frame/engine/axles/etc, and running a cj2a body. Even though it is all oem, and really a stock class rig, it does not qualify into the stock class.
If this is allowed in the future, I might seriously bring it down.
As I am in the same boat, I understand exactly where you are coming from. Mine would not be competitive against the legends.
Good luck.

Another vote here for a Pro-Mod Class, I would like to see Legends split in two. I would run Pro-Mod if I still have my buggy by then.

reading his too bcgper, it sounds like my chev frame/ford body rig is automatically dq-ed. should I even bother bringing my rig by your house?

You guys are really over thinking this. It doesn't say anywhere that the parts all have to match. If that were the case, anyone with a small block Chevy or a dana 60 in a Jeep would have to run legends, not the case. If you have questions PM me.

While I do agree with you that I'd like to see a larger pro-mod class, there is only one or two in that class. Not a lot of fun to compete for second place. Rather than trying to re-write the rules, what do you guys think about a bonus for a legends class to step it up to pro-mod? Perhaps a bonus for all who step it up a class?

I'm not saying that your rig shouldn't qualify because honestly since it's a street legal rig on 33's I feel it fits minus the solid axle swap for a street stock class but...you can have one or the other here. You swapped the frame, great. But you modified the OEM frame beyond what the rules call for on a chevy frame. If you had done a SAS on your BII it might be easier to skirt around the rules. I really don't want to deicourage you here because I would love to see you there.

I would take your rig to BCGPER and see what he says either way.

if 40's were aloud in stock youd be getting enough points to hit a cone and still only be at 0! plus the minium in stock is 33's not 35's you wont regret competeing in the osrc it is so fun dont let your self over think it. It is really about learning and haveing fun small tires or 40's alike

You said it Seth. From looking at past events and looking at what people have said, this event is not about winning at all or even really competing all that much. It's about showing up and having a good time.

I know I don't expect to win a damn thing except for a good time. This will be my first time in a competition.

I am going to build some half doors hopefully or borrow some tube doors for this. No way am I going to do this with full doors and I agree with the safety concerns with the 5" rule so some fab will be needed.
