this thread is flagged as a potential source for malware (due to the linking to pirate pics). Is anyone else getting that error?

I get it only when going to pirate directly. I believe someone reported pirate as a malware site, so it usually takes a few days to clear it out. I got the message this weekend for some reason.

I've been adding some replacement parts here and there over the last couple days. I found a good cowl, straight wiper linkage, new hood hinges, and scored a complete inner fender that I cut out for $20. That means that it will all look factory when I put it back together.

I also decided to just TIG weld the head back together. That will keep me from having to screw with pulling the head and stuff, and since its only there to keep oil in, I don't see an issue with it. In fact, it will likely be stronger that anything else I can do to it anyway.

I'm really trying to decide if I want to link it or leaf it at this point too. If I link it I'll run some ORIs, but I really think that doing the same thing I did with the Frenchy build will be much more simple and way cheaper to maintain.

That being said, I should be able to have this all put back together and actually drivable by the end of next week.

Some fitment of panels. I tacked the PS new inner core support into place and test fitted some of the panels. Measurements are still a little off, but I should be able to dial it in a little better once I can get some more leverage on the PS panel.

So, a quick update as I have been ordering parts to get it back on the road. After pulling the motor and really looking at the head, there is no way we can weld it back together. Turns out that there are two places where there are issues. See the first two pics.

The 2nd pics shows just how torn up the head is. Plain and simple is that its a lost cause as far as the casting goes.

That being said, look how clean the internals are in this motor. This motor has 202K on it! I was amazed at how clean the internals are. The lobes on the cam show basically no wear at all.

So, I was able to source a new, original OEM head this week for a good price. And, AMS is going to move all the parts from the current head into the new head with new Viton valve stem seals for $75. That includes grinding the valves before reinstalling them. I have a full head gasket set coming with the head casting as well.

Grabbed some mixed colored paint to match the Toyota 040 color code at Napa. I think they came out pretty damn good.

The truck itself is going to require a legit buff as the paint is a little faded, but it should blend pretty damn good IMO.

3rd pic is of the original fender on the bottom(with the pin stripe)

Threw a few coats of clear on them for good measure. It might take a little wet sanding, but for around $30 in materials I think it came out very nice. Still need to attack the hood this week, but ran out of white. Ordering some more though.

It's coming together pretty nice. Are you still planning on having it drive able by the end of the week despite the head
issues?

I will get it back together as fast as I can. I dropped the new head casting off with the old head to have AMS go through and move it all over. They said a couple days on it, which is fine. And, I am now having to sand down the fenders and hood as the clear coat I allied gave the paint a slight cream tint and it doesn't match now.

So, I am sanding and priming it as we speak. I ended up having to order 12 more cans of the matching paint to finish it again.

And, I don't want to put the body back together until I re-assemble the motor. Hopefully I will have all weekend to dedicate to get the motor and dash put back together and back in the truck. Oh, and I am waiting on some A/C lines as well.

Picked up the new head yesterday from AMS and spent all day tearing down the other side and putting it all back together. The new casting was a genuine Toyota casting and came with Cometic head gaskets and TRD racing intake manifold gaskets. It all went back together flawlessly.

I plan to finish the new timing belt, idlers, water pump, etc. tomorrow before trying to stab it all back into the truck either late tomorrow or Monday night. Hopefully I can get it all back in so I can start putting the interior and dash back together.

Motor is back in the truck and runs great! Just need to plumb the radiator, install a new Spal fan, finish the core support install and A/C stuff.

Then I will repaint the fenders and hood and get this back on the road again.

Well, started putting it all back together today. Have to pick up my under dash A/C unit tomorrow morning as I had Tubes N Hoses in Loveland replace a line on it.

Once I get that back, I can start putting all the dash and interior back in.

Video of it running. Sounds like crap on video, but its a very smooth running motor.
