Interior work is tedious and a PITA. Took all day to get to this point. But, its all back together. I even used the 96' Lexus steering wheel I had from the LS400 I parted for the buggy. I just swapped the cruise control arm over to the lexus wheel to get it to work.

But, its all back together at this point. Just have to finish the grill, headlights, and fan. Then build a front bumper for it.

So, I was having issues with my brakes after getting it driving. They were slowly locking up and not releasing. After removing the ABS junction box under the hood, they were still doing it, so I knew it was either master cylinder or booster related, so I ended up swapping them out in favor of the Lexus LS400 ones I had left over from the buggy donor.

Turns out they work fantastic now.

So, I need to repaint the hood, and fenders for now to get everything to match. The clear coat yellowed the paint, and it looks like crap. So, that is the plan for today. Although, I will eventually install new fenders for the flares since I was able to take a heat gun to the PS flares to mold it back into shape. Then I will really paint the new stuff with legit (non-rattle can) paint to make it all look factory again.

I also need to get a front bumper on this thing. So, I hope to have one of these on there by the end of next week.

That's a really slick conversion. That looks almost like a 4Runner. ;)

Whats the difference in the master/booster set up if at all? Do you think it would work for one ton swaps? Was it direct bolt in?

Its a 1" bore master. The booster is deeper, but not as wide. Yes, it bolted in.

FWIW, the original master cylinder was a 13/16 bore. So, this should do just fine if/when I go to rear discs.

Quick update:

I swapped out a CV axle that had a wasted boot on Wednesday, then got a couple good tires moved over to the starfish wheels on it. Then took it into get an alignment done. Brakes are great now with the Lexus Master and booster. Then I took it through emissions testing on Wednesday night on my way home with it and it passed no problem.

I woke up to around 3" of snow on Thursday and cruised into the shop in 4wd without any issues. Since then I have been running all over town in it running errands in the snow. Its been great.

Tomorrow, I plan to legitimately paint the new fenders and new hood I grabbed last Monday at Certifit. I am going to go back with the original fender flares, so I picked up the fenders with the holes for the flares. And since another hood was only $74, I grabbed another one too. I figured $74 was worth not having to sand down the other one and prep/repaint it again.

I recently bought one of the legit air dryers(air conditioned) for my plasma table, so I will give a shot at using my good paint gun that we used on the old orange 4runner. Napa is mixing me up some good single stage matched paint along with reducer and hardner, so it should give me a very nice gloss look that matches perfectly. We'll see.

The paint I threw on the fenders and hood were less than stellar. And, I am a little anal about how my rigs look as well as perform. That and I also decided to keep the factory flares. So, I grabbed another hood, and two fenders from Certifit with the flares cutout holes in them and decided to try to shoot the fenders and hood the "professional" way.

I had a Harbor Freight HVLP gun that we used to paint my old orange 1st gen 4runner. That paint job came out good enough for me considering it was done inside a fabshop. So, I went ahead and ordered some paint from Napa to match the 040 Super White II paint code on the Tacoma. I ended up getting 2qts with the proper reducer and super gloss hardner for $120.

The result came out pretty damn good and despite spilling a fully mixed cup of paint, I still had enough to get great coverage. They took a total of three coats. Also, an Easy-Up and some tarps makes for a decent paint booth.

Growing up fast!

I was running some BFG Rugged Trail TAs in the rear and they were downright dangerous in the ice. And since 285s are cheaper than 265s at Discount I decided that a lift was in order. So, I headed down to Toytec this morning to grab some stuff. I came home with some Bilstein adjustables, top hat spacers, rear block kit, and some wheel spacers. Got it all installed by 2pm and headed to Discount Tire. Drove out with some 285s Cooper Discoverer ATPs.

I run a set of these on the wife's suburban and love them. Seem MUCH better than the POS Rugged Trails they replaced. 2wd traction is already a night and day difference.

Now i need to regear it this weekend to push these around. 5.29s should do it and set me up for 37s in the future.

Oh, and I threw one of our new plate bumpers on it too.
