Checker HID lights... how are they holding up?

To the top for this old thread, anyone have any problems with these a year later?

Greg I put a deposit down on a local XR650R for sale (super psyched - check out the pics) and it has a cracked lens with the Baja Designs.. Perfect opportunity to fab something up that looks cool and also put out a ton of light.. :)

I'm thinking a regular 6" round light (I have a Hella H4 that will be perfect) and possibly a 4" HID as well for off road...

Psyched to take an adventure with you at some point if possible! I haven't brought it home yet, I'll have to do the "rude awakening" with the wife as she is currently totally against the idea of a "motorcycle" LOL, ie "well, here it is... " Totally into the multi-day trip idea of course, GG style!

I've had the same thought for motorcycle lighting, it would be neat to mount 2 of those 4" HID lights side-by-side and run one for high-beams and one for low-beams, with some kind of visor to limit the low beams range and not blind oncoming cars.

Running 2 together would draw more amperage than the stock bulb, so if you could run them one at a time, you'd be fine and have plenty of extra amperage for accessories beyond the stock light.

That's a killer looking bike Andre, we'll have to plan some kind of weekend trip, maybe in the Mountains the Summer and do some cooling off. :)

Why not see what Nick Panos can offer in the smaller LED offerings from VisionX? Low amp draw, small, and bright...

also not sure if you guys new that loren Healey, winner of 2010 KOH. He was running this checker HID light. I dont know how well it held up for him but I am going to say it must had done alright. This light really is hard to beat. it is a true HID and a cheap price. it is not as bright as my lights but for the price and the overall package. it is a pretty good deal .

Mine worked fine until I had a little accident and broke them off.

It's been several years, but to follow up...

The 2 large HID lights I bought have been on a couple vehicles, then sat around the last couple years. I tried to wire them up on my Land Cruiser and they flash, but won't stay on. Doing a little research, it seems the ballast is no longer working. I probably got my money worth out of them, but in the future if I'm going to get some large HID lights, I'm going with a well known brand... Lightforce or something similar. For the cost of the bigger ones ($100/ea), you're better off spending the money on lights that will last more than a few years.

I did have 2, 4" HID lights of the same brand that I bought awhile ago and they've been sitting in the shop, so I bolted them on since I had them.
