Halloween

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
I’ve been growing out my beard for a few months now so I could have a nice mustache for this picture. Then I found out we had to take the picture last night which meant I got to spend all day today looking like a cross between a 70’s porn star and a pedophile. In fact I was a full on creeper at the elementary school costume parade this morning. I showed up late so I was stuck in the back behind all the other parents. And then I didn’t even see my son walk by so I just stood there with my phone out and never waved or said anything to anyone.

Yes, I’m shaving it off tonight.

This year is the first year I've stayed home in 14. I was looking forward to enjoying the evening.

Propane fire on the front porch, speakers playing Halloween music, exterior lights flashing to the music, and I ran an air hose out to a table where I had the candy sitting. It was hidden in a skeleton dog, and I could blast it from my chair when the kids reached for the candy.
Great looking set up, IMO. Fun atmosphere.

12.

12 is the number of people that came by! I don't know what happened. Our hood is usually slammed with kids..

I scared about 10 of the 12 people with the air. The very first was the best. A girl I grew up with here.. Scared her so bad she said every 4 letter word she knew

We are too rural. Get nobody out here.

We drove into the nearest town and into a subdivision and let my daughter hit all the homes she could until her feet hurt. It was a good evening.

We did the same last year. Seemed like there was only about a quarter of the amount of people out this year vs last.

I feel like we had the opposite. Last few years I was surprised with how little we had knocking on the door because our neighborhood is so young. But this year they came out in storm! Way more than I remembered.

Had about a dozen groups this year. Down from previous years. I think neighborhood demographics have changed quite a bit so not nearly the young kids we used to have around.

I lit up the solo stove and sat on the driveway with the candy on a table. We had a decent amount of trick or treaters but not a ton. When my 4 y/o quit just up the street I went and picked her up and that part of the neighborhood was PACKED with kids. It makes sense because it’s smaller lots so more houses crammed in there.

But neighbors gathered at the fire and we had a great time. They made me promise to still do fires out front sometimes once our backyard is done 🤣

They all came to my neighborhood. 😒 I turned the lights off at 820. I'm the Grinch when it comes to Halloween, I don't think kids over about 14 should be out asking for candy. We also don't live in the country so I don't think you should drive to another neighborhood (mine) to do it. It pisses me off even more when mom or dad follows their kid in the car. At least walk with them.

I did give one group of teens grief for walking through my flower bed between us and the neighbor. I wanted to tell most everyone else to get off my lawn but held it together and refrained.

I better go to bed before I get myself even more riled up.

I saw some young teens step in my neighbor’s flower bed and about yelled at them too. Little punks. Then some kids with their dad following in a car rang my doorbell at 10:15. Nah bro, we’re done for the night. The lights were off too.
