crappy spooling job, i know. after 14 hours of work today, by the end of the project, i didn't care how it spooled.

i just sprayed this area with undercoating and its already rusting through. North Dakota sucks. I miss the high dry deserts of Wyoming.

Poser picture. Major rubbing up front. I clearanced the rear of the fender with the tires. I need to find some type of fender flare so i can cut the fenders larger and cover the tires better. I really don't want lift it anymore. I have plenty of down travel.

Finally ordered some new mufflers for the beater. all three are rusted out and i'm starting to get fumes inside the cabin. not too good with a new baby showing up next week. So i got onto Summitracing.com and ordered 3 mufflers and some shock conversion brackets for the rear. $99 shipped, not to bad.

I've been cooped up all winter. its finally warm enough to work on the pile. And there really isn't anything else to do in North Dakota. I'm hoping the job comes through in Salt Lake I interviewed for. I should know by Mid-June.

I think the best part of this build is two fold. First, you chose to build something other than the usual toyota or jeep. Kudos there. Second, you have found cheap and effective ways to not only maintain the rig but also build the rig. Your ideas are what this world needs more of. Very impressive build and a fantastic thread.

That's my goal. i've gone overboard before. I like this one and am trying to do useful upgrades and not going crazy on trying to build a rock crawler out of Range Rover.

New mufflers showed up yesterday. Just need to paint them and then install them.

So i found a good deal on E-Pay today. $73 SHIPPED.

bought a new CB for the pile. cOBRA 75 WX ST COMPACT CB.

Since there really isn't a lot of room on the dash or anywhere else this should work well. Now I just need to get my CB antenna working again. Still don't know where i'll mount an antenna.

Well the brakes have always been kind of weak since i bought this thing three years ago. just not enough to really worry about. But in the last week they have gotten really bad. So i decided to try out a dude who rebuilds the accumulators and see how they work. So i plunked down $125 for a rebuilt unit, $50 core charge. This part usually costs $425. I just got it today. Its literally a 10 minute job with an oil filter wrench.

  • First bleed down the brake system by pressing the brake pedal 30+ times with the ignition off.
  • Open hood.
  • Grab some towels to wrap around the ABS pump.
  • Grab a oil filter wrench and spin the old one off.
  • Screw new one in.
  • Tighten with oil filter wrench.
  • Turn on ignition and recharge the brake system.
  • Check for leaks
  • Close hood and drive for another 130K miles on it.

There is good info in this thread, I'm enjoying it.
I have a 2000 Diso that I'm considering a few upgrades on. Nothing crazy, it's the wife-mobile but I think it needs some love and this is motivating me.

Not quite finished yet. I installed my Father's Day gift. My "new" CB

This thing is pretty sweet. Since there is limited room to mount a full size CB, this worked really good. I started by finding a place under the dash to mount the box.

Nice little bar going across the dash seemed like a good place. its grounded as well. I was going to bolt it down, but i didn't feel like running to the store to get bolts. So I drilled two holes and grabbed the rivet gun. I'll just drill those out if i decided to change vehicles in the future.

I ran a 12V supply from the battery to behind the dash for accessories. I used this circuit breaker in there. I'll probably add a seperate fuse box someday. Right now, its just going to power the inverter and the CB.

Still need to hang the mic. I just ran by a truck stop and grabbed the mic hanger today. I have not decided where and how to run the cable for the antenna and where I will stick it. It came with a 1' antenna on a magnetic mount.
