What do I get for the next bike?

IMG_5810.jpgI put probably 15 miles on this 2016 Beta 300RR beauty Wednesday. That may not seam like much but on our ride 85 mile ride all along the canyons and bowls between Afton, WY and The Greys River it was an eternity. We rarely got into 3rd gear. I liked this bike. What I really liked is the oil injection. It runs well, has a TON of low end grunt. The bike is really narrow with a flat seat which sucked going down hill because the tank was really narrow and then it got fat in a hurry right before the neck. I like my KTM 300XC ergos much better but I have made it fit me and my preferences. Stock suspension is really firm, seat is hard as a rock and as mentioned, flat and slippery which sucks when going down hill. I hope KTM will come out with oil injection on 300s like they have on their FreeRides.

Whats really cool is you can order it with what you want on it. This came with an FMF pipe and silencer, SuperSprox sprockets, FastWay linkage guards and a bunch of other goodies.

That's an amazing area, I'd love to hear more about the trails up there! I rode my 990 Adventure over Grey's River Rd in June.

Not sure what Stratton runs but I stay away from slime. I used to work in a bike shop where I discovered Flatt attack. It's made in draper and is leaps and bounds better than slime. And yes, it goes in your tubes.

I have really enjoyed the levers I picked up from you. They were a bit sticky at first, but a little lube solved that, and they have been great.

Wright's has a closeout on all remaining Alpinestar Tech 3's for I price I couldn't beat even with hookups from sponsors or friend's sponsors. It's one of those sales where they just have oddball sizes, but they sold me the ones on display for a smokin' good price.

I've only ever had second hand boots before so I'm looking forward to breaking in my very own set.

Any tips for breaking them in?

That's what I wear. They really don't need any braking in but they will get a little more flexible with age.

I guess I had a small leak in my front tube (Stock) so I swapped in an STI ultra heavy duty. The stock tube had some abrasion which caused a thin spot.
A little bit of a pain at 17*F in the garage at 9pm, but I'm excited for St. George.
I picked up a trick from Adam Riemann videos: instead of baby powder, I grease my tubes with a heavy axle grease and it virtually eliminates abrasions and pinch flats. It's a little messy and a little more work to clean the bead and rim before you seat the tire, but I've had great luck with it.

No pinch flats last year. We had 2 flats in my starting group of 4 at Chimney Rock this year. Besides moose tubes: slime + ultra heavy duty tubes + tire grease is about the most durable option in in my opinion.

Since I saw that video last year:) I have been spraying the inside of the tire and the tube with very light oil. I'm guessing it has worked since I ran 13 psi at chimney rock and Indianola and no flats.
