So I'm driving down the road (right after powder coating) minding my own business just driving straight.. When the car to my right decided he wanted to be in my lane... IN MY EXACT SPOT! So out of the blue I feel a bump and I was like WTCrap was that?! A speed bump? That is when I noticed a side view mirror fly past my window.. I was pissed... I pulled into the nearest parking lot and teh Nissan Altima pulled in after me. I jumped out and asked the kid if he was okay. He said yes and then I started looking at my jeep... To my surprise I had NO damage :) Awesome! Then I looked at his and I had to hide my laughter...
Lets just say Jeep 1 and Altima 0 lol
So I called the cops cause there was obviously more than a thousand worth of damage..

Its hard to see in the photo's but he had A LOT of sheet metal damage.. there where dents/ smashes on both doors and front and rear fenders..

The officer showed up and I told him this will be a great story when I go take My Police Academy Final later that day.. He just laughed.. He told the kid he must be a complete idiot not to see this big red Jeep next to him and wrote him an improper lane change ticket..

Next lets talk bumpers...

i wasn't to keen on the bumper that came on the rig so I decided to switch it up.. i purchased a used bumper from a member of my Utah Jeep Crew.

Then that didnt cut it.. So i sold that bumper too and designed my own basic bumper.. My brother in law welded it up and then I painted it..

Here's the mirror reloaction

I didn't like the "diving board" design of these and was sick of them vibrating as I drove down the road.. So I decided to weld in another brace on them. This fixed the problem and now they don't wiggle or vibrate at all :)

I also had some problems in Moab.. It involved dropping my gas tank and a few other things.. when I figure out what all the problems are (which I think i'm getting close) I'll post up my findings...

Anyway.. here are some cool wheeling pics from the past couple months..

The guys over at ORO OffRoadOnly are awesome! I have their litedot tail lights, 3rd brake light and license plate light. In June, 3 of my LEDs on my right tail light went out.. Since then both tail lights have had lots of led's fade and turn off then come back on. Sometimes up to half of them..

So I sent ORO an email late one night. They called me first thing the next morning and offered to send me a new set. I just have to cover shipping :) heck yes! Their customer service rocks!

They also offered to let me upgrade to the new tail lights for half price but I need to save up for some other things right now. I'll get new ones down the road if these have issues. Apparently the new design is much more reliable than the ones I have.

So in July I did and oil change / Air Filter Recharge.

I also replaced my spark plugs. I gap'd the new plugs .035 and then after installing them I checked the old plugs. They were all around .060.. Twice the gap! That might explain loss of power and misfires ha ha are there any other side effects for having to large of a gap? I have heard hot spots because the spark connects with the cylinder wall and less fuel economy. Well I'm hoping to have a little more grunt up some of the big mountain hills around here.. At least til I regear again..

While I was in Moab my jeep started having problems. It would struggle and die on the highway. I ended up dropping the tank, and cleaning out the pressure regulator and replacing both strainer pads in the pump.

After replacing these plugs and finding a vacuum line hole the jeep has run much better.

Current to-do list
-install On Board Air pump (sitting in closet)
-install ZJ Washer Bottle (same closet)
-get floor mats
-reinstall fog lights
-new windshield/ safety and emissions :(
-track down EVAP Leak (i'm borrowing a friends smoke machine this weekend)
-new tires
-lighter wheels
-axles

Ive been wanting to get a front G2 D44 and super 44 kit for the rear and some new 37's-40's but I might wait long enough to get D60's.

Because of money (trying to get a cop job after graduating is a long task ha ha) and expecting my first kid in August :D I will have to put off axles for another year or two. So I want to get my jeep just running properly with no problems. Just a solid rig. One of the problems with that is 37" tires on a d30 with steelies. Also my rear spartan is slipping so it's time to put something good in.

So I'm going to replace the spartan with an Eaton ELocker.

I also decided until I save for axles I'm going to rocks some 35's and get lighter wheels.

Right now I'm torn between Grabbers, Kevlars and Km2's
ps i'm leaning to this order grabber, kevlar, km2

So my current 37's average about 34.25-34.5 inches on the jeep. So I'm thinking 35's will look about the same as my jeep does now.

Any opinions on tires and the Elocker?

Tough to go wrong with the Kevlars or the BFGs in my opinion. The Grabbers look interesting, but I've not seen them on the trail at all. I really like my E-locker. It does take a half-wheel turn to engage/disengage, but I just plan for it and it's never been an issue (real similar to an ARB--had those in my XJ and I'd run them again). There's a limited slip-locker and the open-locked E-locker. I'd avoid the limited slip version (if that's still available).

I've got the grabbers on my Tacoma in the 33" flavor. I have no complaints about them at all. Not loud, look awesome, clean out the mud well, and good in ice/snow. I haven't had thm on rocks yet because I need to finish my front coil overs first. But I should be able to report this next week after I get it all done.
