I know this build is progressing slowly, but it is a budget thing. It has reached the "critical stage point" where capital funds are at a minimum & expenditures are at a maximum & you have to get authorization from a higher power before proceeding!:-\
Right now I'm working on the stuff I can do for little or no money! This weekend I'll try to fit up the CJ5 top & bars,so I can figure out the mods I have to make to the top to make it fit properly!

Thanks for looking in & all your words of encouragement, I really appreciate it!:tara:The next part of the plan is to build the roll bar & get it all fit under the CJ5 top Then I can spray the bed liner in the tub
! I hope the stuff is still good, I won a kit at an event 3 1/2 years ago, it says on the label that it has a 2 year shelf life:-\, I guess we'll see!!I probably should have sold it then, but I knew I was going to do this project, I just didn't think it would take this long to get to this stage:wtf:! But then who ever does??:amy:

Update! I've been working on the roll cage, which has been a lot more time consuming than I thought it would be!! I started with a stock CJ7 bar in the rear (blue) & a CJ5 bar with the angled bars removed for the center (white) & then bent up the bars from the front floor/ dash/ windshield to the center bar & spreaders from the center to rear bar! :-\
I need a mill in the worst way! It takes forever to fish mouth pipe with a porta-band & a grinder! I'm taking some extra time & care to insure that I maintain good accessability & head clearance. There will be a bar across the top of the windshield, a dash bar, & an "Oh Schmidt" bar across the center hoop for the rear passengers!
After I get that much done I''ll look at what else I need for cross bracing & tie ins! I'm also trying to keep the design as a 1 piece removable unit if possible!

The sliders are mounted to 2 X 3 angle iron which is bolted to the bottom side of the roll bar floor plates. The rocker panels will be welded to the top of the slider & then be bolted through the body 2" below the door line. I figure that will add plenty of stiffness to the body & still be removable for repairs if I really come down hard on one!
Of course if I hit it that hard I'll probably be repairing the whole side of the Jeep!

Thanks! I was never a big fan either until I built my Cherokee & started wheeling with other jeeps! :-\ I didn't think they were ugly or anything, I just didn't like the lack of space inside!:-\
The Cherokee was the right size & a pretty good build platform,but I built it into such a crawler that it's no longer street friendly!
This time around I'm planning to have a fairly capable off roader/ expedition rig that doesn't mind a 500 mi. jaunt now & then!

Looking good.It may be the pics,but it looks like the B-pillar is going to be a head knocker.

I set the seats in & then clamped the B pillar in place to make sure I had enough room but I didn't get a pic directly from the side with everything in place!
Actually I did!The B post matches the slant of the seat about 1.5" behind the padding. Sitting in it my shoulder & head are in front, so a sideways move isn't a problem, but an up hill off camber could possibly pose a problem. :-\
I'll have to double check the positions!
I don't want to move it unless it's absolutely necessary! It follows the door line really well & gives good access to the rear seat. We'll see!Attachments

Update time!
2 weeks ago I finished welding & painting the rocker/sliders! I think they are going to be really strong & durable! And they look pretty good too!
This last week I lifted the roll cage out & rolled the CJ75 outside! Wow! It's surprising how big it looks out in the open! Bigger tires would look better I'm sure!
I welded, cleaned, & painted the cage & put it back in the body for now.Next week I'll clean, sand & coat the inside of the tub with bed liner!
I love how a $.99 can of black paint can make things look like you are really moving along!
