Question on the rear housing? What strength advantage does the tube/ truss add to the upper link brackets the way of have it mounted? Other then just aiding in preventing side load. Also on 9's aren't the tubes and center of the housing the same material? If so wouldn't it be better to just make a solid truss down the pumpkin? Just thinking, don't worry I don't know what I'm talkin about:D

The tube trussing is primarily there for the side loading on the upper brackets. It's just a creative way we decided to do it.

We could have made a solid truss as well, but we probably saved some time and weight doing it this way. Looks kinda cool when it's all mounted up too. :)

I forgot to add that the only work really left on it is sanding, primer & paint, reassembly, and get the new motor in and tuned.

I'm excited to see it drive on it's own. :D

Finally makin some progress. I tryed to sand down mine, looked ok for a while, but the salt off the roads(moab trips in the winter!) has undone all the sanding work and I need to repaint mine. I recommend sandblasting it for best results.

I drove down and helped for a few hours today. I ended up cutting off the remains of stock shock mounts and leaf spring pad on the rear axle. Then after some grinding and cleaning up, it was time to primer and paint.

Here are the results:

Those are some mighty pretty axles! How's it lookin' for EJS?

He's trying pretty hard to make it. I say it's do-able, but he still has to put in his new engine and hope it starts up. It's just a ton of tiny little details now, and those are the hardest to do.

I stopped by tonight for a few hours and we bolted the suspension back up and put the tires on. We now have a rolling chassis sitting at full compression.

That ride height is sweet....at compression. Maybe 18's are too big, I was thinking about it. Coming together well though, it's shiny:D

18's are way too big. There is no way he'll use the whole length of them. But they'll work out good the way they are setup. It will be sitting no more than 8" taller than it is now.
