all that was out by five mile, the pics where i was flexed out in a rut were between rattle snake and waynes worldWhere did you go wheeling at? that spot looks pretty messy
I will have to go check those out.In addition to ih8mud, yotatech, pirate, and ttora are a few other big sites that often have great deals on toyota stuff for sale in the classifieds.
I will have to go check those out.
What's a good source for some nickel rod so I can fix this steering arm and have it has a spare? It's cast iron and mig welding it's not an option. So arc plus nickel rod should do the trick as far as fixing it goes.
nickel rod will make it even stronger. hopefully next paycheck i will have hysteerIf you heat up the cast, you can MIG it just fine.
this is so true plus krany like i said once you go high steer you can use a "J" arm because you will have to use a IFS boxIn my experience as a welder every time i have ever welded cast it eventually just breaks again right next to where you welded. Even with nickel rod etc ... Once cast breaks its not really worth doing unless your Stuck somewhere and need to do it to limp it home. :-\
yea, this arm would be a just in case arm to throw in the back of the truck when i go wheeling. In my experience as a welder every time i have ever welded cast it eventually just breaks again right next to where you welded. Even with nickel rod etc ... Once cast breaks its not really worth doing unless your Stuck somewhere and need to do it to limp it home. :-\
yea i need to go pick up an ifs box and a mount, probably a lowrange one. do you know if the p/s lines from my current push pull box will go right on to a ifs box?this is so true plus krany like i said once you go high steer you can use a "J" arm because you will have to use a IFS box
so what your saying is that they are broke just not all the way? It's probably your birfields being not-yet-broken. There is a lot of binding on the drivetrain in 4WD, so a lot more load on the birfs.
whats the difference between crossover steering and hy-steer?The Toyota steering arms are different from normal cast iron. I've made several crossover steering arms, and they actually weld quite well.
That said, I wouldn't bother fixing that. Just go with either a crossover steering setup, or hi-steer.
