    anyone running the new mtr's?

This puncture was near the center of the tread, between two tread blocks - not a sidewall puncture. I've ruined a few due to a sidewall puncture, but this is the first time I've seen a small tread puncture destroy a tire. Oh yeah - here is the official reply from Goodyear when we asked them...

    anyone running the new mtr's?

I've been thinking about getting a set of these. Last week in Moab, I was wheeling with a friend that has been running them for a year. We were on Dubinky Well road and he got a puncture - about the size of a pencil. We did our usual thing and plugged it and aired it back up. About 2 miles later...

    Paria River Rally

NOT TRUE. A woman died in a ATV roll over incident, but not on this run. She was turkey hunting elsewhere in the state.

Exploring the Dolores Triangle, April '09

Great trip and great report! I assume the dolores would be too high to ford this time of year? My last trip to the area was a population control hunt in the little dolores triangle across the river from westwater landing. That was 1993 I think.

That white jeep with the red cooler in the background was me...:D The old ford was a young guy from NM with his dad. He did not break a u-joint, just pulled the front slip apart. He looked like a cowboy fresh off the range, but I noticed he was running a laptop mapping program on the seat...

    Moab Tailings....?

Waste of money, IMO. Should have built an amusement park on it and studied the customers to see what effects - if any.

    bent trailer axles

If the frame is hitting the tube when you go through a dip - the tube will bend. I've bent a few - did SOA and now the tubes don't bend - but the freakin' trailer sets too high. Thinking about tor-flex axles to set it back down. I have another trailer that is all aluminum on tor-flex axles and...

    Paris / New York - Transcontinental 2009

That should have been good enough for the task. Must be something odd going on in there.

I wonder if that is the rear D44 that keeps breaking.

Suggested places to camp along (Notom/Burr Trail)

Note the GPS coordinates around the edge of the map - that should get you in the neighborhood. The best spot is the one near the end of the runway. The furtherest north spot has an interpretive panel and probably gets more visitors - not the best spot to stop but possible the best view.

Suggested places to camp along (Notom/Burr Trail)

Here's a little better details: And here are a few pic's from the spot. This is south of the Burr Trail junction, along waterpocket fold. Let me know if that is of interest and you would like GPS coordinates. I'll have to fire up another computer to get those if you need them...

Suggested places to camp along (Notom/Burr Trail)

Tomorrow I can. I don't have the hard drive it's on here. It's a side loop off the notom road, there is an old airstrip there. I can get GPS and more detail tomorrow.

Suggested places to camp along (Notom/Burr Trail)

I like the little spurs I've circled. GREAT view, very few people. It's outside the park so I think it's open for camping.

BRC Call for action on Omnibus land grab issue

I got this notice in my e-mail the other day and contacted my reps here - did no good since I see they both voted yes. I also noticed the Utah reps voted yes. This is an AAPL forward of a BRC Urgent Action Alert Immediate Action Requested Omnibus Package Revived In Senate - Vote...

    San Rafael expedition, Feb. 20-22

I just looked at my map - the cherry stemed road is north of Cane and not related. Where was the half track? I found one down on Boulder, but I don't remember one in the desert.

Cane wash is open. It's cherry stemmed I think. You can get to I 70 from there, or to the west over fix-it pass. It's a great drive - I enjoyed it a lot.

Saddle horse canyon is in the Sids Mountain WSA - so it is closed. You can get pretty close to either end though. Do you know exactly where you want to get to?

General Tech Repair a gas tank?

Yeah JB weld or simular epoxy will work. I've welded them before but it's a really risky thing to attempt and not for those who don't know what they are doing. Purging with inert gas is how I've done it. The water deal is still too risky for me. I'm not done living yet - I hope.
