Bill the MutTJ

Long story short. This jeep has lots of stuff. Most of it is completely custom. I have lots of cool buddies and family that has helped me along the way to design and build this Jeep. The custom parts far out number what is left of the stock parts. At least it still looks kinda like a TJ

Specs:

Suspension

Low and lots of up travel
3 link front
4 link rear
Summit Machine flex joints
14" Fox 2.0 coil overs
Fox air bumps
Pac Springs
2" 7075 solid aluminum links
108" wheelbase
~18" frame height (I think this equates to about 2" of lift? Ish?)

Drivetrain

5.3L -> 4L80e -> TWF 3 speed Hero

Front axle: Tera CRD 60, 3.5" tubes, Reid inner and outer knuckles, Yukon zip locker, shafts and u joints, TeraFlex SlimLock hubs

Rear axle: later model E350 D60, big tubes, 35 spline shafts, zip locker

Misc
Boat sides

IH Corn Husker steering gear

Front and back halfed frame

2" x .120 wall DOM roll cage

21 gal fuel cell

Raceline Bead locks and 37" mtrs

That covers the big stuff. So much to list. The pics can do the rest of the talking. Let me know if you have any questions or want any more detailed pics and I'll see what I can do. Sorry for the random order. I just grabbed a few out of the many that I have.

Went and ran Hanging Tree with some buddies yesterday. That is a seriously good time. We ran up and back down rather than try and find our way through the maze of ranch roads back into town. We had my Jeep, another TJ, 2 buggies and a Razr. Didn't have too many problems. One feller lost a bead, one rig started to run hot due to a huge air bubble in the cooling system that we had to bleed out, and the last problem was that the trail ended. :greg: I was first up the trail, so I don't have any action shots of my rig, and only managed to get a couple other shots of the rig right behind me. Oh well. I'm sure I'll start getting some pics as the week goes on.

Turned around at the top of the waterfall ready to go back down...

Started building a skid for this thing. The Tera skid is great but I need to cover the trans and engine. Somewhere in my travels I managed to dent my trans pan

The skid will serve as a full drivetrain protector and come down to the same level as my lower control arm mounts. Hopefully reducing some hang ups. Other than that, nothing is new. Just wheelin' it. And driving it to work a couple days a week :greg:

Front axle seal tech.

I've consistently had problems with standard front Dana 60 seals. Really it was a problem in my 30 too. They don't really like it when you pull the shafts. And if you have 25 year old shafts like I used to, chances are the sealing surface is less than ideal. Enter Seals-It. They developed a deal that holds the diff's oil in the center section for a nascar rear end. It can handle misalignment of several degrees (those nascar guys like to run camber on the rear) and it is very flexible and doesn't care too much about the shaft diameter. I machined a housing out of some Delrin stock to press into the axle where a factory seal goes. Then 2 of the Seals-It seals were pressed in back to back. Fill the center of the seals with a low temp grease to keep the seals lubricated and voila. I've been running like this for more than 3k miles and so far so good. Much better than I ever got out of a factory seal.

Plans to skin it with UHMW or something? Looks stout!:)

I was originally going to make the skin out of 1/4 aluminum. And then do a piece of 3/8 or 1/2 uhmw. Then I decided I didn't want to spend $1000 on a skid plate. So I'll see how the 3/16 steel works out.

Time to valve the shocks for full awesome. The factory tune from Fox was set for a different method of choosing springs and was basically exactly backwards of what it should have been. I'm working with a feller I met while working on the JW Speaker LJ SEMA build. We are going to make it float like a butterfly. Or something like that. Full tune on the shocks, dual rate timer and air bumps.

In other news, I ordered a new radiator. The CBR radiator has leaked between the tanks and core since day 1. And CBR was completely unwilling to warranty it because I cut off and re-angled the lower outlet. CBR won't be getting any of my money anymore...

Not to do any hijacking of the thread here, but where can I find some info on Desert Speed Shock Tuning? The Fox shocks on my Raptor need to be rebuilt and have been doing some research on where to send them.
