90,000 acre land grab by BLM

No kidding. See: Federal Register 21 April 2014 EPA Proposed Rules Definition of “Waters of the United States” Under the Clean Water Act http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2014-04-21/pdf/2014-07142.pdf Seems pretty simple... just a definition change. But this would be a huge change that gives...

Big Ridge Trail Project May 10th,11th

Here's SUWA's new action alert (in italics) for this proposed project: Dear Friend, Proving that on-the-ground reality plays little role in decision-making when off-road vehicle (ORV) interests are involved, the BLM’s Richfield field office recently proposed opening a long-impassible route...

    Gates?

Is there a sign at the gate saying ATVs are allowed to go past, is there a narrow side-gate to allow ATVs, or are some ATVers just going past the closed gate? If you want to look into it, that gate and area are managed by the Ogden Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest...

    Utah Greater Canyonlands Wirlwind Tour

It also may end up helping SUWA. If you want to show the BLM lands within the proposed GCNM are protected, look at the Moab FO, Price FO, Richfield FO, and Monticello FO Final RMPs. Then look at what the protection was before the RMPs (which is basically the No Action Alternative in the DEIS)...

    Utah Greater Canyonlands Wirlwind Tour

The the Utah Gazetteer is alright for a general plan, but you'll need the BLM route designation maps to really check things out. All of the area within the Greater Canyonlands boundary that's in the Moab FO is "Limited to Designated Routes" or "Closed." The designated route maps are available...

Opposing the Potential Designation of a Greater Canyonland National Monument

What a marvelous collection of weasel-words. Of course the "letter" is a different document (they have different filenames or are printed on different pieces of paper). But the fact remains, the "letter" is in support of SUWA's petition, which is the only "Greater Canyonlands" petition /...

Opposing the Potential Designation of a Greater Canyonland National Monument

A few points: The OIA hasn't created the "National Monument proposal", they have ".... signed a letter in support of designating the Greater Canyonlands area as a national monument." The proposal comes from SUWA. See: http://www.suwa.org/issues/greatercanyonlands/ SUWA "made a formal request...

    Urgent Bad news for Utah

SUWA is being dishonest when they use that to support this: "There is another significant aspect to this problem: too frequently, ORV users knowingly violate existing rules that govern ORV use." If you look carefully at the survey questions, raw data, time-of-year the survey was conducted (for...

    Anyone into Moto Trials?

Trials bikes typically run 4 to 4.5 psi in the rear (tubeless radial) and 5 to 6.5 psi in the front (tubed bias ply). That can vary with conditions, tire brand, etc. and rear pressure is sometimes run as low as 2.5 psi, but almost never over 5 psi. Running 5 psi in the rear would be for trail...
