    Land Use: Practical Observations

My last trip up American Fork Canyon was riding my KLR650 with my good friend on his. These are the ultimate Utah exploration machines and we had a great ride up to Forrest Lake. This gave me the opportunity to watch a non-RMEer, a non-BRCer, and non-U4er, but a great guy who loves the Utah...

    Powdercoater recommendation

Utah Powder Coatings in Orem for the win! ;) Whatever your needs are I guess... distance or price. We do send a lot of powder out the shop and we've seen a lot of different projects. I'll admit to not being the cheapest shop in town, but then again, using the best equipment and processes takes...

    Coke Bomb

Bummer. I thought you were going to share with us how if you put chlorine powder in a half empty bottle of coke you get a wicked good explosion... But sharing bomb recipes on the net might not be smart.

    "The Best Part" Commercial

Thought I'd mention that my cousin and his friends produced this commercial for the Doritos Super Bowl ad contest. Now they're in the final 5 that get to go to the super bowl and see if their commercial is picked to be shown during it. Then, if theirs shows, they get a chance to place in USA...

    M101 Aluminum Trailer Lid

This summer I designed and built a hinged aluminum trailer lid for a local FJ40 owner (who hasn't succumbed to RME yet) and thought there might be some interest if I posted it here. His posts about this project can be found on expedition portal. You can see more pictures and comments there if...

    A hero emerges

Where did you hear 75 ft? I didn't see it in the article. It did say he asked him to put down the rifle which would be quite a yell from 75'... not impossible though. Yards ≠ ft :D

    Motorcycle rim & tire upgrades!

Referring to the original post: Did you notice any difference in the torque now that you've gone up a rim/tire size? Have you already done the front sprocket or are the DRs already set up well for low speed, off road?

FREE "Drive-In" Off Road Movie Night

Everyone's invited! I was looking around my business complex where our shop is (near Orem Center Street) and there's a ton of space to park after hours for quite a good sized crowd. I'll round up a LARGE projection screen and a projector (I already have a PA system) and play a couple of our...

    Hole Saw Longevity

Other signs of too much speed: Cutting oil starts to smoke, bluish colored chips (metal discolors at around 600F), Hole saw too hot to touch after cutting, Cutting requires excessive pressure. Some drills from Milwaukee or Bosch will have a little dial on the trigger to set the speed to a...

Questions on Converting Street Legal Dune Buggy into Crawler

I think you have the right idea. The ones you see on the road are most likely grandfathered from when they were allowed on the road like that. Not that they were built in the '60s, but because in, say the '80s some guy converted his bug to a buggy, and the title hasn't changed hands since.

    Carry gun: Kahr CW9 questions

If you are thinking of the CW9, I would highly suggest going up to the CW40. Identical in almost every way - Size, Price, Weight, etc. - But more stopping power. I guess with the 9 you have the advantage of cheaper range time due to the cost of the ammo. Those seem to be great guns. I carry...

    Northern tool welders?

Looks decent at best. The biggest "red flag" for me was the way-too-short 3 month warranty. The industry standard for welders these days is 3 years, and on some parts, 5 years. If you don't need professional equipment, like Miller, Lincoln, ESAB, etc. go with Hobart (Miller's basic line). Like...
