I think you have the right idea. The ones you see on the road are most likely grandfathered from when they were allowed on the road like that. Not that they were built in the '60s, but because in, say the '80s some guy converted his bug to a buggy, and the title hasn't changed hands since.

If you are thinking of the CW9, I would highly suggest going up to the CW40. Identical in almost every way - Size, Price, Weight, etc. - But more stopping power. I guess with the 9 you have the advantage of cheaper range time due to the cost of the ammo. Those seem to be great guns. I carry...
