yeah, I probably shouldn't have taken that big of a risk on a vehicle I had never seen in person. But I checked in a sleeping bag, and my tools at southwest, so I was somewhat prepared. Still not a good idea. I'm just glad it worked out.

Congrats on the successful adventure. Were you able to return the bent front axle housing? I'd be surprised if a member here would knowingly scam someone like that.

No, I wasn't able to return the bent axle housing. He claims he didn't know it was bent, and I believe him. So I just really overpaid for a price of hubs (I hope they still work after all that). I'll strip the axle tonight of any useful parts, then sell it for scrap metal. I'll get some pics of the housing and get some opinions from you guys to see what's salvageable and what isn't.

Let's see some truck porn :)

It looks just like the pics on post #8. I'll take better pics of it once I start the build thread. Still gathering parts for now. I actually really like the color. It's a dark green, with a deep blue pearl where the sun hits it.

Like all great cars of the 90's, the clear coat is peeling on the roof and hood. What are my options? Any opinions?

I thought of doing flat black on the hood and roof (tastefully done to flow with the body lines). Then I thought of sanding it and spraying some more clear coat on it instead. It's not going to be a show car, but I don't want it to look like crap in a few years.

Road trips that you know that something very bad could happen are always a blast! Wered you go to get it? I had friends that flew from Sac to Michigan to pick up a ride once, but it was a newer Caddi do they had an uneventful trip home.

I picked the kick up from sonora, near tahoe. Fortunately my inlaws live out in the bay area, so I was able to fly in, and get a ride from them. They're the greatest.

hehe, no. But I scored major points with them when they realized I sold my taco so my wife could have a 100 series. So that's always good.

Good luck on the build Steve. I think you are going to wish you had a bigger motor though. Oh, in reading through this masive thread, you count your chickens before they hatch, not the eggs. You already know how many eggs you have.

"I don't want to count my eggs before they hatch, but I found the donor vehicle. It's a '97 sidekick in CA. I'm flying out to get it next week, and I'll drive it back with my wife. Sounds like it should make it back to Utah no problem."

oh yeah. I botched that saying. haha.

You may be right, I may end up wanting more power down the road. We'll see. Trail Tough (my favorite suzuki aftermarket company) is working on a suzuki v6 swap kit for these. So it'll be a year or two before they're done. If I can't handle the lack of power with my 1.6L, then I'll install that v6 kit someday. I'm not a huge power junky though, so as long as I can do 65 on the freeway, I'll be happy.I've got my Miata if I want to go fast.

well, the ups man showed up today and delivered sliders, rear bumper, and suspension parts. Looks like it's about time to start a build thread.

sh!t, you move fast.. Just 2 weeks ago you were still hawing over your Taco selling and wishing you could buy the mini truck back. Now, you have no Taco, you're up a 100 series LC, and your a foot away from being balls deep into a - sigh - Sidekick build.. I don't understand some people.. But, here's to another few 'sploded heads and 50+ more pages to your "build" thread. :)
