    pipe vs tube

Really? Tubing benders must be a complete waste of money then. There's a lot of myth in the pipe vs. tube arguments. There are many types of pipe, and many types of tube... The argument always seems to imply cast pipe vs. Chromoly tubing... and that's a no-brainer. There are types...

    ZJ opinions

I have a 93 limitied 4.0 with 233k miles, had transmission issues while it was under warranty, and virtually no problems since. It's my DD, and I have a different rig for wheelin. My dad had a '98 5.9L... it was a lot of fun. Now he has a WJ Overland, it's not as cool as the 5.9 in my...

DANA 44 or 10 BOLT that is the question?

this was the point I was trying to make.. in regards to front axles, the 10 bolt and 44 are so similar that there is virtually no strength difference... and you obviously want the cheaper of the two (if you wanted to spend money you'd get a 60).... so for me, it was the 10 bolt.. sounds...

DANA 44 or 10 BOLT that is the question?

Both axles suck equally... I have a 10 bolt.. and I'd rather have it than a dana 44, and here's why.. You can pay $300-500 for a dana 44 and get a 10 bolt for free-$250... both have the same gear ratios, same brakes, same locking hubs, same ball joints, same outer axle shafts... and both...

    Weird suspension design

the rockware comp YJ ran that type of suspension and so did Terry Howe. I think it works pretty well, but obviously isn't as adjustable as a 3 or 4 link can be. Seems like lots of European/Scandanavian guys run similar setups. And i've heard a lot of big rigs in the midwest run the same setup...

    Headers

HP books Race car Fabrication book shows to make a set.. but I think they were TIG welding stainless.. I'm not sure what thickness.. If you know someone who has the book, you might check it out. I just barely returned it to the library or I would scan it for you..

Yeah, we had a good wedding. Apparently my wife appreciates diamonds more than Dana 60's... (still gotta work on that).. :) Things are good. School keeps me pretty tied up, so I can't do a lot with the Jeep. I've been on ifsja as full_hydro... i lost my other username.. Can't wait to see...

Registering your Off Road only Crawler

What exactly are you saying? You just licensed it in Idaho where there are rarely (never except in Boise) inspections. Or are you using some special type of registration?

I agree, I haven't liked too many exos, but I can't help but like this one. BTW, nice axles. :)

    Full Hydro Steering

my orbital was supposedly for a Toyota fork lift.. i think it's a good score if you can get the parts for cheap.. i wouldn't spend much money until you know exactly what you're getting..

    Hydraulic steering - 'Orbital Valves'

for reference.. I have a danfoss orbital, and the displacement is somewhere around 6 cu. in. or whatever they measure it in.. with a 2x8 ram it is about 3 turns to lock in one direction, and a little less than 3 in the other direction. With a single ended ram, you'll get more turns to lock in...

    cheap link suspension

I guess the debate was inevitable.. DOM is better than pipe. I won't argue that. However, I don't think it's so much better that it justifies the cost in every situation. IMO- There are applications where pipe isn't suitable.. however, there are also applications where DOM isn't...

    cheap link suspension

IMO, there are things that can be built right for cheap. i'm not suggesting a hack job, ghetto fab or anything along those lines... I am just trying to see if there are any cost corners that can be cut, without cutting safety corners when building a link suspension. I appreciate all of...

    cheap link suspension

i don't want to get into the whole pipe vs. tube thing.. but here's what I was thinking... key word being "cheap".. 2" square tubing 1/4" wall (or sch80 2")- $50 4-Jeep bushings- free-$36 4- tractor joints (or RE joints for $140)- $60 1/4" sheet for mounts - $50

    cheap link suspension

okay.. good start.. I forgot to mention that I have access to some stock suspension parts, mostly from TJ's... springs, uca, lca... so those could be used too. is DOM really necessary? .. I was thinking 2" square HREW or sch80 pipe.. or whatever I could find for the cheapest.. and is...
